What inspired the "GLOBAL CONNECT CHALLENGE"??

The Story Behind the " CONNECT CHALLENGE"

Five years ago, at the age of twenty-three I decided to undergo lasik eye surgery. At that point in time, there was a “lasik craze”. Lasik was advertised as the solution to freeing yourself from the hassles of wearing contact lenses and glasses. I bought into this lie. With high expectations of seeing 20/20 after surgery, it is an understatement to say that I was devastated to have undergone a serious complication.

During my surgery, there was a slip, this slip in movement resulted in the accidental cutting of my cornea. This complication was labeled as a free cap. A free corneal cap is a complication in which the corneal flap incision is cut all the way around the eye, so that instead of leaving a hinge of attached tissue to adhere back to the patient’s eye, the intended flap is a free-standing piece of tissue. In my situation, the free-standing tissue was replaced and aligned in order to adhere and heal itself back to my cornea.

I endured over a year of serious physical, mental, and psychological pain due to my complication. I had severe nerve pain that wouldn’t subside even with the help of a number of prescription drugs. The pain I endured physically, mentally, and emotionally became unbearable.

I went to numerous medical specialists, although none could offer a solution to help me. The main problem of my complication was physical pain in my eye, although it was accompanied by- vision quality defects, such as ghosting (faint secondary images), reduced contrast sensitivity, night vision disturbances, floaters, and a terrible dry eye condition. I felt very alone, depressed, and hopeless as I went from doctor to doctor hearing the same negative reports.

After a year of going to every eye specialist and still not finding any hope, I knew that I was going to have to be the one to find the answer to help me heal physically, mentally, and emotionally from the extreme pain that my body could no longer endure. The day that I made the decision to find healing for myself, is the day that Connect- Mind, Body, Soul was born.

The first major change that I made in my life that day was committing to take care and connect to my mind, body, and soul every day no matter how I physically felt. This is when the CONNECT CHALLENGE was created. The CONNECT CHALLENGE required me to do at least one positive, good, or healthy action daily for my mind, body, and soul. No matter how I felt, I followed this challenge daily and tracked each personal “connect” mind, “connect” body, and “connect” soul contribution that was made in my life that day in my “Connect Journal”.

As a result of faithfully following the CONNECT CHALLENGE, the “CONNECT ACTION PRINCIPLES” started to become very present in my daily life.

N-ew Beginnings
N-ever Stop Learning
E-ncouragement
C-aring
T-ake Action

I started to gain more courage each day as I sought out opportunities and new beginnings for healing. I was now on a mission to seek out all information and resources that would aide me in this new journey. I became very encouraged as I was learning new insights and discovering various actions that I could take. I began to start experiencing a healing in my body that continued to progress.

As time passed, a revelation was made very clear to me. I was fighting to save my vision! I could have easily given up on not finding an answer for my healing, although I made the decision and commitment to restore my vision 100%. When I had this epiphany, I created the VISION principle for my life.

The Vision Principle

I-ntrospection
S-tandards
I-ndividuality
O-pportunity
N-ever Give Up!!

Living and breathing the Connect- Mind, Body, Soul challenge and principles have completely transformed my life! Connect has brought immense healing and restoration to me physically, mentally and emotionally. Connect has truly changed my life.

Many would say that my recovery was a miracle. Aesthetically speaking.. no one would ever know the complications that I’ve endured just by looking at me. People are shocked when I share my story with them.

Through my personal and painful experience of almost losing my vision, I have gained a completely new vision for my life. The new vision that I have gained is to teach young girls and women the importance of creating a vision for their life and to never give up on that personal vision! I truly believe that it is my mission to teach “CONNECT- MIND, BODY, SOUL” to all women around the world.

Connects coaching sessions, conferences and seminars teach women how to develop a short term, long-term, and life-long VISION for their life. Connect has a very unique teaching strategy! Connect strives to initially define the basic value principles for women, thus allowing them to dig deeper within themselves to find the answers to their problems as well as their hidden strengths, energy-resources, hopes, and dreams so that they can fully live their life with passion and purpose!
